"Clothes are intrinsic to the expression of our identities; they are very personal. Through loss and grief, clothes are often a physical, emotional reminder of the person who is gone. When we lose someone, or they are taken, the loss creates ripples throughout the community that we cannot ignore. Their family and loved ones do not have that choice, they feel the loss every day. These people could be here with us now, our classmates, teachers, or staff at Mendocino College. I wanted this installation to bring this loss to the forefront on the campus."

Melinda Hare is a Costume Designer and Artist from Cloverdale California. She works at Mendocino College as part-time faculty in the Theatre Department. She has an MFA in costume design from University of Washington and a BA in Drama from San Francisco State University.
